Author of Christian Children's Books
God’s Creation is breathtaking: the powerful seas, the never changing mountains, the generous fruit trees, each gentle flower and bird. Creation inspires us to look at the beauty of the LORD--His heart, His ways, His love. As an author my hope is to reflect His truth and light through the written word—particularly through stories. I have published inspirational poetry with Blue Mountain Arts (Boulder, CO) and Christian devotional entries with The Group Publishing (Loveland, CO). As a couple, my husband and I have helped facilitate whole church Bible-reading programs in Colorado, Nebraska and South Dakota. We make our home in northern Colorado, on the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Contact me: sheri@shericarmon.com
God loves COLOR! He created fish, birds, butterflies, and His children, in a lot of different colors and shades. All colors of kids are wonderful! That is the message of the picture book, When God Made Color.
The vibrant paintings created for When God Made Color will immerse you in the gloriousness of God, expressed through His Creation. Like the precious picture books of old, the pages are large, and the illustrations are vivid and encompassing. Each image flows across two pages so that a visual feast of color engages the reader.
When God Made Color is designed to be read with a child--so together you can enjoy the Listen, Look and Locate feature. The illustrations and the manuscript mirror each other and when the text speaks of an orange butterfly “with stained glass wings,” The child can touch the Monarch flying in the upper left-hand side of the cloud of butterflies. You can ask them to find the “golden-yellow fish that shimmers like sunlight” or the “white banded orange fish that glimmers like moonlight”. They may be surprised by the “mysterious bright-eyed chameleon that can change the color of his orange, red, green, blue and white skin”.
The grand finale of the book is the final painting: Children of Many Ancestries. As you turn the last page, each of the joyous faces that greet you are people alive today: African, Asian, Arabic, Indian, Irish, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Mexican, Jewish, German, English and others, including many beautiful ethnic blends.
When God Made Color is published by WhiteFire Publishing as part of the inaugural launch of their young readers division: WhiteSpark. The picture book is available in hard cover, paperback and Kindle. Publication date is March 15th 2019.

Happy story-hour to you and yours! So, go ahead… jump into COLOR with the joyous God who created it all - always remembering that His finest design is YOU!
In the beginning, the very beginning, just before the Earth was born--God danced across the waters carrying with Him all the colors of the rainbow. The colors swirled and foamed, twirled and mixed, skipped and sang, as He danced through the soft blackness.
...At the sound of His voice the heavens and the earth separated. Color streamed through the expanse and raced joyfully across the new sky in spinning bands of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
God had fun when He made fish! God made swimmers to live in His new blue ocean and they began to dart, splash and glide about in the glistening waters.
Silver Bluebird Studios engaged an exceedingly gifted (and very private) fine artist to paint the breathtaking paintings that comprise When God Made Color. The artist selected Gouache, a difficult to use artistic pigment that dries to a matte finish and transfers vividly into print. Only this ancient opaque paint would bring forth the needed depth of color to communicate God’s gloriousness as expressed in Creation.
The artist hopes that someday When God Made Color will be developed as an interactive electronic app. This future possibility was considered as each painting was created. In the electronic concept, the colors would swirl and mix, skip and dance and then pour out across the earth as the viewer touches the screen. The great waters and waves would rise and rush, lap, and gurgle as they’re gathered into place. The flowers would burst forth in bloom when touched and the fish would swim and dart about in the new blue ocean.

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world…”
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.”
“How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small.”
“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
